My Opinion

Do not choose a lawyer or law firm by the amount of advertising they do, the car the lawyer drives, how fancy the lawyer’s office looks or how the lawyer dresses.

Here’s what I think are the most important considerations in selecting a lawyer:

Will your lawyer communicate well with you and explain matters until you understand them?

Will you be an active participant throughout your case or an uninformed bystander?

When you call for updates, will your calls be promptly returned?

Will you be kept informed of developments in your case?

Is your lawyer experienced in the type of case you need representation for?

Will your lawyer explain substantive and procedural law, as well as the judicial process, upon inquiry, including providing you copies of case law, statutes and rules of procedure when you want to know the details?

Will your lawyer assess risk with you at each settlement discussion and before deciding to go to trial?

Will your lawyer involve you in your case from discovery drafting and review of documents produced in discovery through trial preparation?

Will your lawyer objectively evaluate your case as it develops discussing weaknesses and strengths with you?

Will your lawyer provide you with a written Attorney Fee contract?
